Poppy enables people (“Users”) seeking childcare services for children (“Child Care Services”) to be connected with qualified and experienced childcare providers (”Caregivers”). Both the Users and Caregivers are referred to herein as “you” from time to time.
By visiting our Site or using our Service, you agree that any information that we collect from or about you through our Site or Service, including personal information, anonymous information, and aggregate information, will be handled as described in this Policy. We define “personal information” to mean personally identifiable information about an individual, such as a name, address, email address, phone number, or other identifier that permits direct or indirect identification of a specific individual, or as otherwise defined by applicable privacy and data security laws. Information We Collect
We collect information about you directly from you, from third parties, and automatically through your use of our Site or Service. We may combine information automatically collected with other information that we have collected about you.
Information that We Collect Directly from You.
The information we collect from you depends on your interactions with our Site and Service. If you are a User, we will collect information that includes your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and date of birth. We will also collect information about your child care preferences (e.g., how often you need child care, household routines, etc.) and information about your child(ren), such as name, age, physical or mental condition (e.g., allergies), and preferences (e.g., food likes/dislikes). Users may also provide us with reviews of Caregivers, which may include the Caregiver’s name and your assessment of their Child Care Services, and other information Users provide so that Poppy and Caregivers may better serve their families.
If you are a Caregiver, we will collect information that includes your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, profile picture, and biography. In addition, we will collect information from you about the child(ren) and Users you work with that you think we will be helpful to future Caregivers (e.g., that a child takes naps best from 2-4pm, book preferences or favorite games).
We will also collect any information that any person provides to us through our Site, such as your email address if you subscribe to us for updates or leave a comment on our blog.
Information We Collect About You from Third Parties.
We collect certain information about you from third parties. For example, as noted above, we collect information that Users provide to us about their child(ren) and Caregivers and we collect information that Caregivers provide to us about Users and their child(ren).
Information We Collect Automatically Through Our Site.
We automatically collect information through your use of our Site. This information may include, without limitation, including but not limited to, your IP address, the type of browser you are using, domain name, the website that led you to our Site, the website to which you go after leaving our Site, your location, dates and times you access our Site, and other web logging data.
Information We Collect Through SMS.
Our Site and Service are not targeted to children under thirteen (13) years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete such personal information from our systems.
In order to provide our Service, we collect information about children of all ages from Users and Caregivers. If you are a User or Caregiver, we encourage you to provide us with only that information necessary for us to provide our Service to you (i.e., name, allergies, etc.) and not to provide us with extraneous information about any child.
How We Use Your Information
We may use your information, including personal information, for the following purposes:
Providing Our Service.
To facilitate childcare by connecting Users and Caregivers; to conduct background checks of Users and Caregivers; to provide our Site and Service; to improve or customize our Site and Service; to provide new Services; and for other customer service and support purposes.
Marketing and Communications.
To communicate with you about your account and use of our Site and Service, including appointment reminders and review requests; to respond to your inquires; to provide you with news and newsletters, special offers, promotions and other information we think may interest you; and for other informational, marketing, or promotional purposes.
Research and Analytics.
To analyze how individuals interact with our Site and Service; to analyze childcare patterns; for market research; and for other research, analytical, and statistical purposes.
Protecting Rights and Interests.
To protect our rights and interests as well as the rights and interests of our users and any other person, as well as to enforce this Policy and our Terms of Service.
To comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, including informal requests from law enforcement or other governmental authorities.
How We Disclose Your Information

We may disclose your information to our vendors, service providers, agents, or others who perform functions on our behalf. For example, we use a third-party service provider to process payments on our behalf.
Poppy Users and Caregivers.
We will disclose your information to other Poppy Users and Caregivers as necessary to provide the Child Care Services. For example, in order to confirm a child care appointment, we will share the User’s phone number with the Caregiver and vice versa.

Do Not Track Disclosure

Correcting Your Information.
You may access, update, correct, or request to remove the personal information that you have provided to us by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. However, we may maintain copies of information that you have requested be removed, as part of our business records.
Opting Out of Email Communications.
You may opt out of receiving marketing and promotional email communications from us by following the opt-out instructions in the email or emailing us at email@example.com. Please note that we may still continue to send you emails related to your account or use of our Service.
With your permission, we may send SMS messages, including reminders to book a sitter, appointment confirmations and cancelations, payment confirmations and other notices and reminders. Our Site and Service may contain links to third-party websites and applications. Any access to and use of such linked websites and applications is not governed by this Policy but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third parties. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third-party websites or applications.
We have taken steps to help protect the information we collect from you. However, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your device and account by, among other things, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.
